In 2007, only 12 percent of 8th graders were reading on grade level, yet the majority of teachers received performance ratings of “satisfactory” or better.

 

Now: We’ve helped launch a more accurate, nationally acclaimed performance evaluation system (IMPACT).

More than 400 organizations and individuals have invested in transforming DC Public Schools, nearly 90 percent of whom are based in the DC area.

 

Now: Our goal is to raise more than $100 million by September 2012.

The Education Fund’s Constituents Provide Valuable Feedback

DC Public Education Fund values the relationships with our key partners—both donors and DC Public Schools’ senior leaders.  To measure our effectiveness and performance as viewed by our colleagues, we surveyed both groups at the close of Fiscal Year 2011 (9/30/11).

 

We thought you might be interested in some of the  survey results  which highlight our strengths, as well as areas where we can improve.  These responses inform our work as we continue efforts to accelerate reforms in DC Public Schools.

TUDA Report Shows Mixed Results for DCPS Students: Growth in Grade 8 Math in Top 4 Nationwide; Reading Remains Area of Concern  

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A federal report that compares standardized test scores of students from 21 urban districts nationwide showed continued improvements for District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) fourth- and eighth-grade students in math and fourth-grade students in reading since 2007.

DC Public Schools' accomplishments and goals  

When I took over as chancellor of D.C. Public Schools one year ago, questions swirled across the city, and the country, about the future of education reform.
