In 2007, only 12 percent of 8th graders were reading on grade level, yet the majority of teachers received performance ratings of “satisfactory” or better.

 

Now: We’ve helped launch a more accurate, nationally acclaimed performance evaluation system (IMPACT).

More than 400 organizations and individuals have invested in transforming DC Public Schools, nearly 90 percent of whom are based in the DC area.

 

Now: Our goal is to raise more than $100 million by September 2012.

OSSE Releases DCPS 2011 Graduation Rates  

On April 5, 2012, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) released the District of Columbia 2011 graduation rates.  This year’s numbers are of particular interest, because the OSSE is switching to the standardized calculation methodology that will be mandated by the Federal government as of next year.

DC Public Schools' accomplishments and goals  

When I took over as chancellor of D.C. Public Schools one year ago, questions swirled across the city, and the country, about the future of education reform.
