DC Public Education Fund is an independent not-for-profit that advances excellence in DC Public Schools through private philanthropy. With a human capital focus, the Education Fund works alongside the school system’s leadership to support effective teaching and high achievement in every classroom, at every school.
DCPS has made great progress in implementing education reforms since 2007, but it still remains one of the nation’s lowest-performing city school systems. (See DCPS Progress.) DCPS’ goals are to become the highest performing urban school district in the country and to close the achievement gaps that persist along racial and socioeconomic lines.
To achieve these critical goals DCPS needs additional support from the philanthropic community. Enter the Education Fund, which has the goal of raising more than $100 million in support of DCPS by the end of 2012-2013.
