Kara Honeycutt supports the DC Public Education Fund as a Portfolio Director managing initiatives related to teacher professional development, school portfolio improvement and next generation learning models.
Prior to joining the Fund, she worked for Walt Disney Imagineering, the creative engine of the Parks and Resorts segment of The Walt Disney Company. As an Imagineer, Kara supported the finance division with strategic planning, organizational analysis and operations improvements. She also spearheaded employee volunteer opportunities in the Los Angeles area as a board member of the Disney VoluntEARS. Although a lifelong supporter of education as a volunteer, Kara began her career in education as an intern with Teach For America’s national recruitment team.
Kara earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a minor in Spanish from California Polytechnic State University’s San Luis Obispo campus. She is originally from Los Angeles and is excited to be living in the city where it all began when her parents met in 1973. When she’s not at the Fund, she is practicing yoga, honing her culinary skills or travelling.
