Privacy Policy

The following information explains how D.C. Public Education Fund may collect, use and disseminate information obtained from users of its website,, and the services available at the Site (taken together, the Service).


Information Collected

When you visit the Site, web servers may collect general information about your visit (such as, for example, "traffic data" like time, date and the address of the website from which you entered the Site), which is stored as anonymous, aggregate data. D.C. Public Education Fund may also collect more specific information about you and your use of the Services (such as, for example, demographic data, profile data and frequency or duration of use). Collecting such data (Use Data) may entail the use of software programs as well as cookies and IP addresses (as described in greater detail below) or other numeric codes used to identify a computer.


At your election ("opt-in"), you may desire to subscribe or gain access to various information services concerning D.C. Public Education Fund and organizations D.C. Public Education Fund believes might be of interest to you, including the District of Columbia public school system. When you do so, our registration process may require you to provide your name, address, telephone number, email address and certain additional information, such as, for example, your preferred contact method and indications of the information that may be of interest to you (collectively, Registration Data).


Use of Information

D.C. Public Education Fund uses Use Data to help diagnose problems with its web servers, to administer the Site and to analyze user trends and behaviors. Your IP address may be linked to personally identifiable information, but is most often used to gather broad demographic data and to monitor statistics to improve the Service.


D.C. Public Education Fund uses Registration Data to contact you when necessary, to respond to your inquiries for additional information, to provide additional information according to your preferences and for D.C. Public Education Fund's other purposes, which include, but are not limited to, contacting you to provide more information on the activities and programs of, and regarding your interest in making donations of money or time and effort to, D.C. Public Education Fund, the District of Columbia public school system and other organizations D.C. Public Education Fund believes might be of interest to you. At your election at any time ("opt-out"), you may choose to stop receiving future communications from D.C. Public Education Fund (see below).


Sharing of Information

Currently, D.C. Public Education Fund will not share personally identifiable information with any third party for commercial purposes. D.C. Public Education Fund may, however, disclose personally identifiable data if (1) reasonably necessary to perform the Service, including to its independent contractors and service providers acting on its behalf, (2) authorized by you, (3) permitted under this Privacy Statement or (4) D.C. Public Education Fund is required to do so by law or regulation, or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary (i) to conform or comply with any legal, regulatory, law enforcement or similar requirement or investigation, or (ii) to protect or defend the rights or property of D.C. Public Education Fund or any other user.


D.C. Public Education Fund may transfer personally identifiable information to any successor to all or substantially all of its business or assets that concerns the Service. Additionally, while at present, D.C. Public Education Fund does not anticipate sharing Registration Data with third parties (other than its independent contractors and service providers acting on its behalf) without your permission; however, in accordance with the Changes and Opt-Out section below, that may change in the future.



Information collected by D.C. Public Education Fund is stored in reasonably secure operating environments that are not made generally available to the public.


If the Services permit you to make payments, D.C. Public Education Fund will use a variety of safeguards to protect the security of your credit card and other payment transactions consistent with those used in the industry to secure such transactions. D.C. Public Education Fund uses technologies and processes such as encryption, access controls, network firewalls, physical security and other measures, and the third parties D.C. Public Education Fund uses to process credit card transactions also use encryption and other security measures. These measures make it extremely difficult for third parties to intercept the credit card information you send to D.C. Public Education Fund through the Services. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, D.C. Public Education Fund cannot ensure the security of any information you provide, and you do so at your own risk. Once D.C. Public Education Fund receives your transmission, it will make reasonable efforts to ensure its security on its systems.


Third Party Sites

The Service may permit you to link to other websites on the Internet, and other websites may contain links to the Site. These other websites are not under D.C. Public Education Fund's control. The privacy and security practices of websites linked to or from the Site are not covered by this Privacy Statement, and D.C. Public Education Fund is not responsible for the privacy or security practices or the content of such websites.


IP Addresses and Cookies

D.C. Public Education Fund may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with its web servers and administer the Site. Your IP address may be used to help identify you and to gather demographic information. IP addresses may also used to provide an audit trail regarding use of the Site.


"Cookies" are pieces of information that a website transfers to your computer's hard disk for record-keeping purposes. Cookies in and of themselves do not personally identify users, although they do identify a user's computer. You may be able to set your web browser to refuse cookies, which in turn may affect your ability to access and use the Service.


Changes and Opt-Out

D.C. Public Education Fund reserves the right to change or update this Privacy Statement at any time by posting a notice at the Site. Information collected by the Service is subject to the Privacy Statement in effect at the time of use of such information.
