Measures of Effective Teaching Project to Support the Study of Value-Added Data in DCPS

November 6, 2009 -- DC Public Education Fund is pleased to announce that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as part of its Measures of Effective Teaching project, has pledged $299,985 to support DCPS’ efforts to develop a value-added data tool that, along with other performance measures, will help inform DCPS' assessment of teacher effectiveness. DCPS recently rolled out its new school-based personnel assessment system (called IMPACT). The development of a new value-added data tool will support teachers by targeting specific areas of development and providing instructional tools for improvement, enabling DCPS to increase student achievement and attainment through data-informed decision-making.
