DC Catalyst Project Teachers Receiving Technology and Professional Development from Hewlett-Packard Grant
September 23, 2009 -- Through a grant valued at more than $230,000, selected teachers at Eaton Elementary, Payne Elementary, and Columbia Heights Education Campus are beginning to use state of the art tablet pc's and mini-notebook computers from Hewlett-Packard. The grant includes extensive professional development provided by the International Society for Technology in Education. The grant supports the DC Catalyst Project by enabling participating teachers to use technology for engaging students in a variety of exciting world cultures-themed projects. Jon Rybka, DCPS’ Catalyst World Cultures Specialist, says of the grant, “Through the generous support of Hewlett-Packard, our world cultures Catalyst schools are able to reinforce great instructional strategies with innovative uses of technology to enrich the classroom experience and raise student achievement.”
