DC City Council Approves Teachers’ Contract

June 29, 2010 -- Today, the DC City Council unanimously approved the new contract between DCPS and the Washington Teachers' Union. This is the final step in what has been a lengthy, demanding process, demonstrating both DCPS and WTU’s commitment to delivering a high-quality education for all children in the District. The approval of the contract is especially well-timed with the end of the school year; heading into summer vacation, DCPS educators now have a contract in place that delivers excellent compensation based on results.

The strides that DCPS has made in recent years were only possible because of the hard work and dedication of teachers, administrators, and other school staff. We would like to thank them, as well as our donors and supporters, who are making a difference in improving schools across the District.
